The Journey Jiu Jitsu Junior Program is designed specifically for children aged 4 to 7 years, providing a safe, structured, and engaging introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
At this age, children learn best through movement, repetition, and positive encouragement. Our classes combine age-appropriate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques with games and activities that help children build confidence, coordination, and important life skills while having fun.
Whether your child is naturally energetic, shy, or trying martial arts for the first time, our goal is to help every student feel welcome and enjoy their time on the mats.
Our Junior Program is perfect for children aged 4 to 7 years, regardless of experience or ability.
It's ideal for children who want to:
Every child progresses at their own pace, with our coaches providing guidance, encouragement, and plenty of positive reinforcement.
The focus of our Junior Program goes beyond learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. We aim to help children develop skills they'll use every day at home, at school, and in life.
Throughout each class, students work on:
Most importantly, we want children to leave each class smiling and excited to come back.
Our Junior Program includes both Gi and No-Gi classes, allowing children to experience different styles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while developing strong fundamentals in a fun and engaging way.
Learning Through Play
Our classes combine fun, movement, and age-appropriate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques to keep young children engaged while they learn.
Build Confidence
Every achievement, no matter how small, helps children develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Safe & Inclusive
We create a welcoming environment where every child feels supported, respected, and encouraged to learn at their own pace.
Blue Card Certified Coaches
All coaches working with children hold current Queensland Blue Cards and are committed to providing a safe and positive learning environment.
For Gi classes, your child is welcome to borrow a gi for their first trial class. During the trial period, gi hire is available for $10 per class. Once enrolled, Journey Jiu Jitsu gis and rashguards are available to purchase at the academy in a range of children's sizes.
For No-Gi classes, please have your child wear a rashguard or a fitted athletic T-shirt with athletic shorts that have no zippers, buttons, or pockets. This helps ensure a safe and comfortable training environment for all students.
Not at all. Our Junior Program is designed specifically for beginners, and many of our students start with no previous martial arts experience.
Absolutely. Every child is different, and it's completely normal for some children to take a little longer to settle in. Our coaches create a welcoming environment where children can build confidence at their own pace.
